Few German hotels can claim a history as rich as that of the Hotel Elephant, which was first
officially documented in 1542. The 'Elephant' was the social and cultural focus of Weimar at
the close of the 17thcentury. Goethe, Liszt, J. Bach, and Leo Tolstoy, to name but a few, were
patrons and contributed to the hotel's sterling reputation.  After a complete renovation in
1993, our hotel reopened as a 5-star deluxe hotel and joined the Starwood family in 2000. With
99 luxurious guest rooms and suites, renowned restaurants and bars, and a famous art
collection, the Hotel Elephant is a truly unique establishment.
